Brown Butter Frosting
Browned butter is one of my favorite little secrets. Browned butter can be used in many different recipes in place of regular butter for a much more in depth flavor, and a little nuttiness. My sister told me about a friend of hers that makes browned butter frosting. I had never heard of it, and I can't believe I never thought of it! We made our own for some cupcakes she was bringing to work and it is so good! Think caramel frosting..but not as sticky, a little less sweet than caramel, but just as great. This just might be my new go-to frosting! What types of recipes do you like to use browned butter in?
Brown Butter Frosting Recipe:
1 stick of butter
1 lb. powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
1 tea. vanilla
1/2 tea. salt
2-4 Tb. milk
Start by browning 1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter. Here's my Browned Butter How To.
In the bowl of a mixer, measure out 1 lb. of powdered sugar and salt. Pour in browned butter and mix until combined. Add milk 1 Tb. at a time to thin out and get rid of the lumps. Mix in milk until it reaches the consistency you desire. Smother generously over anything!
