Orange Cream Whiskey
Bubbly, creamy, and sweet, this drink tastes reminiscent of an orange creamsicle. It’s so simple it almost doesn’t require a recipe. But I am here to give you the idea and inspiration to make this next time you have these ingredients on hand.
My husband and I have been trying to get creative with drinks while we are quarantined at home. We’re using what we have on hand, whereas in a normal situation (non-pandemic times) we might just run to the store for what we want, we are thinking up new concoctions and combinations we haven’t thought of before.
Enter: the orange cream whiskey. We had some cream soda leftover from when I made homemade butterbeer for a party a few months ago and I was trying to decide what to do with it. It’s way too sweet of a soda for me to drink it plain, so I wanted to use it in a cocktail. We pretty much always have whiskey, and we also have A LOT of oranges on hand, so that’s how this idea came about. Pretty simple!
It’s really delicious. It’s creamy, sweet, and tastes a lot like an orange creamsicle popsicle, but with whiskey. It’s surprising because while it’s sweet like the soda, the whiskey flavor is still present, which I like!
- 1-12 oz can cream soda
- 3 oz whiskey
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
- 2 orange peel garnishes
