Easy Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
We all love a good chocolate frosting. What we don't love are recipes that require more work than we bargained for.
Like, having to melt 5 different types of chocolate, and let the chocolate cool before adding it into your butter mixture. And then melting the butter because you didn't let the chocolate cool enough.
Or accidentally adding vanilla into the melted chocolate and having the chocolate seize up and be unusable.
Yeah. We're not big fans of those things are we?
There's a time and place for everything. And most of the time, we like simple.
So here's to a simple, reliable chocolate buttercream!
It doesn't hurt that it pipes great either!!
Easy Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:
2 sticks (room temperature) butter
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. powdered sugar (about 8 cups)
3/4 cup cocoa powder
≈1/2 cup whipping cream (give or take)
Directions:
Cream butter and shortening until smooth. Mix in vanilla. Mix in salt.
In a separate bowl, sift together powdered sugar and cocoa powder to get out any lumps.
Slowly add in powdered mixture, while mixing on low speed, 1 cup at a time. As the frosting becomes to thick, add in whipping cream 1 Tb. at a time.
Continue to alternate the powdered sugar and the whipping cream until you reach the desired consistency. Enjoy!
