Funfetti Cake and 1 Year Blog Anniversary GIVEAWAY

Today my blog turns 1 year old! It's flown by so fast, and I'm so happy with this little sprinkle-filled corner of the internet I've created. Sure I've only come a little ways farther than having just my boyfriend read my blog, but I'm so proud of it. I've learned so much, and yet there is exponentially much more to learn about this thing we call food blogging.

Eggnog Latte

I'm usually a latte purist. I like my lattes with espresso and steamed milk. No sugar, no flavorings, nothing. If it ain't broke don't fix it-am I right? But Paul loves all the holiday flavored lattes there are to offer, and his favorite being the eggnog latte. Since I bought some eggnog for some baking ideas, he requested a homemade eggnog latte.

Brioche French Toast

Let me just preface this post by saying this french toast recipe is not limited to just Brioche bread! Make it with whatever bread you prefer. However, using Brioche, or some other rich bread will yeild a much more decadent french toast than normal. This is like happy-birthday-french toast..or, congrats-on-your-new-job-french toast. Or more like YOLO-french toast.

Brioche Bread

I've knocked a few big things off my baking bucket list as of late. First it was Morning Buns, and now it's Brioche Bread. They both require a bit more time and patience than my usual baking conquests. Hence, the bucket list placement. But the time spent waiting is well worth it. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean if you've ever made any type of home made yeasted bread before.

Sprinkles Of My Life

Happy Halloween! Are you dressed up today? Halloween on a Friday is like every kids dream, isn't it? It would be mine too if I had plans! But I think Paul and I will just end up handing out candy. Hopefully we get some kids..if not, more candy for me!  Are you dressing up? Tell me your costumes!

Salted Caramel Apples

Caramel Apples are such a classic fall treat. Every time I'm at the fair I always look for the caramel apples. The thick, chewy caramel contrasting with the tart green apples is a combination that just can't be beat. Sprinkle them with some sea salt and you're golden.

Morning Buns

If you're not familiar with Morning Buns, let me introduce you to your new obsession. Meet Morning Buns, the flakey, buttery pastry dressed in a cinnamon brown sugar and orange zest swirl. Morning Buns are similar to cinnamon rolls, except the dough is made from croissant dough.  The croissant dough produces the tender, flakey, buttery layers that you just can't get from normal cinnamon roll dough.

Muddy Buddy Bars

Most of us have a few recipes that we can pretty much make from memory, right? For me it's my chocolate cake,  chocolate chip cookies, and german pancakes. I should probably learn to cook some real food, shouldn't I? One of these days..

Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail

It's happening! Our weather in the past few days has dropped a whopping 10-15 degrees and I'm officially calling it FALL! Sure the drop only led us to a high of  70ish degrees. But I'm taking what I can get, and running with it. I'm in long sleeves, and even wore a scarf to my night class this week. I'm loving it. Give or take a couple of hot flashes.

Stovetop Apple Cider

Apple Cider has always been my favorite fall-time drink. Warm, cinnamon-infused fall in a glass. I remember year after year rummaging through our kitchen cabinets trying to find any remaining apple cider packets to make.

Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Hand Pies

Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin hand pies. They're pumpkin, they're mini, and they're jack-o-lantern themed!

What is it about mini things that make them so darn cute? Whether it's their size, their portability, their personality, or something else, things in miniature form are usually even cuter than normal.

Ginger Peach Pie

This isn't just a peach pie, it's a ginger peach pie. The fresh minced ginger gives it an extra little ZING! The little kick goes great with the peaches.

Pie making can be intimidating for some. So I've broken down the steps of the pie, (pie crust especially), to hopefully make this daunting task a bit easier, and more enjoyable.

Pumpkin Meringue Cookies and Cupcakes

I feel like I'm behind the curve when it comes to all the fall/Halloween baking. You know how as soon as school starts back up, the stores are instantly packed with Halloween and Christmas decorations? Well in the baking world, (food blogs, Pinterest, magazines, everything) it's the same. September has hit, school is in session, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are here, so that means it's officially the holiday season! Or so we like to think.

Apple Sauce

I don't know about you but applesauce has always sort of been a staple in our house. I remember my younger sister used to stick a straw in a big container of it and just drink it. She always wanted applesauce so my mom eventually started serving everything with a side of applesauce. And she still does! No matter what she makes for dinner, whether you think it fits or not- applesauce will be out with it. It's become a quirky family tradition, I guess!
